Kashmir Valley

Despite being in international news for all the wrong reasons, the disputed region of Kashmir India boasts some fascinating cultural heritage and spectacular seasonal landscapes. The region is also renowned for its textiles and crafts. Kashmir tourism ebbs and flows in relation to the political climate in the area, but there is no escaping the fact that the Kashmir Valley has much to offer adventurous tourists.

The most significant factor for Kashmir tourism is the exceptional beauty of the Himalayas, and Kashmir is home to three majestic Himalayan ranges: the Karakoram, Zanskar, and Pir Panjal. The snow-capped mountains are home to great rivers that flow through the Kashmir Valley, and the dramatic changing of seasons helps create stunning scenery. Winter brings blankets of snow, while spring and summer reveal the rivers, fertile rice fields, blooming flowers, and shimmering lakes. In the autumn, the vibrant colors remind visitors of a New England fall. Kashmir India is beautiful all year, but if you're trying to decide when to go, March through October is typically the best time to visit, as winter weather can make the region difficult to access.

Vibrant and diverse cultures can be found throughout the Kashmir Valley, and despite the political turmoil, the region displays a common celebration of all religions. Kashmir is certainly a spiritual place, and many travelers come on pilgrimages to climb the mountain passes and pay homage to the gods at one of the many shrines and monasteries in the region. A holy temple for Hindus, Vaishno Devi Mandir is located in the Jammu and Kashmir valley, around an altitude of 5,200 feet. Many also visit the Amarnath caves, one of the most famous shrines in Hinduism. The region also holds the holy Muslim site of Charar-e-Sharief, a fourteenth-century shrine of the Sufi saint of Kashmir. The town was razed in 1995 during a military encounter but has since been rebuilt.

With such stunning scenery, it's no wonder that outdoor activities are popular among visitors to Jammu and Kashmir. All-inclusive guided treks are an excellent way to explore the stunning Himalayas in India. For instance, a two- or three-night trip following the Mughal tradition comes complete with camp cots, tables, chairs, and willing porters. The verdant Kashmir Valley and its roaring river systems make for terrific white-water rafting on the Indus and Zanskar rivers. A Kashmir tour that incorporates rafting trips offers trips that range from half a day to six days, in which daily rafting and camping at night gives travelers a closer look at the picturesque Zanskar valley.

Its network of fresh mountain rivers and streams makes Kashmir an angler's dream, and fishing—particularly trout fishing—is excellent here. A combination of hiking and fishing create a Kashmir tour for the more adventurous travelers, and the trip includes high-altitude lakes up to 14,000 feet above sea level, which are home to an abundance of brown and rainbow trout. For those interested in spending plenty of time on the water, accommodations are available in many of the deluxe houseboats found here.

Due to the prominence of the Himalayan ranges in this state, Kashmir India attracts ardent mountaineers from around the world. The Kolahoi peak, known as the Matterhorn of India, reaches a height of nearly 18,000 feet, and the Pir Panjal range boasts two more tall peaks that are well worth exploring in the Tattakuti and the Sunset. For more experienced climbers, expeditions to the Zanskar range offer multiple peaks that are above 21,000 feet, including the pair of Nun, at 23,409 feet, and Kun, at 23, 218 feet. Weeklong expeditions into this part of the state can be arranged through both local and international Kashmir tour operators.

If ascending a peak that high sounds like too much, you can consider staying at Gulmarg, one of India's premier ski resorts. All the necessary equipment is available to rent, and the Indian Institute of Skiing and Mountaineering offers ten-day and 21-day courses that range from beginner to advanced. Gulmarg has both downhill and cross-country ski slopes, so travelers interested in skiing should have no trouble finding a trail that suits them.

Colorful, rich, and spiritual, and with the soaring Himalayas located on its doorstep, Kashmir tourism has much to offer. For many travelers to India, it is an unforgettable destination just waiting to be discovered.

Teaching Good Sportsmanship

Tips for Parents
"You don't win silver. You lose gold." That's the sour message of a sneaker advertisement that aired on TV during the Atlanta Olympics.

Such omnipresent multimedia messages combined with a "winning is everything" philosophy embraced by increasing numbers of parents and coaches - makes it harder than ever for adults to teach kids that it's not whether you win or lose, but how you play the game that's important.

It's not surprising that the rise in bad sportsmanship -- and outrageous behavior in professional sports has resulted in a parallel increase of poor sportsmanship (e.g., trash-talking, violence) in youth sports. Regardless of whether we caution our kids to NOT idolize professional athletes who behave badly, kids will continue to be influenced by the behavior of the pros.

How can you instill in your child the importance of good sportsmanship and offset the "win at all costs" philosophy? Both parents and coaches can start by focusing on these issues:

Be Your Child's Role Model.

Offer praise and encouraging words for all athletes, including your child's opponents. Never openly berate, tease, or demean any child athlete, coach, or referee while attending a sporting event. When attending athletic events or watching them on TV with your child, refrain from criticizing or condemning athletes' performances.
During the Olympics, what messages are you sending your child if you honor only athletes from the United States, while rooting against athletes from all other countries? Let your child see you enjoy the sports and athletic activities that you play, modeling the philosophy that you don't always need to win or be the best to enjoy playing sports.

Do You Have A Hidden Agenda?

Be honest with yourself about why you want your child to play organized sports. What do you want her to gain from the experience? Are your intentions based on providing her with pleasurable, social activities that develop a better sense of self-worth, skills, and sportsmanship? Or do you harbor dreams of her turning her topspin forehand into a collegiate scholarship, or riches and fame? A child's participation in sports and the importance attached to it should not be driven by a parent's desire to use her child's sports accomplishments for ulterior purposes.

You Set the Rules.

It's ultimately your responsibility to teach your children good sportsmanship, both as a participant and as a spectator. If you observe your child engaged in poor sportsmanship, regardless of whether his coach corrects him or not, you must discuss your child's misbehavior and insensitivity with him after the game. If a coach is ignoring, allowing, or encouraging poor sportsmanship, you need to make your objections known to the coach in a private discussion.

Watching and Learning.

Whether you're watching the Olympics on TV or attending a high-school sporting event, you can always find "teachable moments" regarding sportsmanship. Ask your child her opinions of: players who showboat and taunt their opponents; the costs to the team of a technical foul, or being ejected from a game for unsportsman-like conduct; and the appropriate behavior of opposing players toward one another after a game. During these "teachable moments" ask her open-ended questions and listen more than you talk or lecture.
Tips for Coaches
Coaches nurture good sportsmanship. They should embody parents' values regarding good sportsmanship. A coach must model good sportsmanship at every level and make it a core goal of his work with kids.

I recommend that every youth sports coach engage his players in a detailed discussion of good sportsmanship as soon as he forms his team. A written contract, perhaps titled The Good Sportsmanship Code, should be given to every child and his parent to sign. The contract should spell out what the coach expects from each player in terms of good sportsmanship, including the following areas:
Cheating
Losing one's temper
Negative criticism of teammates, coaches, referees, and opposing players
Blaming teammates for mistakes or a poor team performance
"Trash talk" and taunting opponents
Showboating
Arguing referees' calls and judgments
The need to congratulate one's opponents after a game

Coaching children is an honor and a privilege that carries with it a moral responsibility to contribute to the healthy character development of young players. Coaches who equate "trying your best" as the definition of success -- and who value, expect, and demand good sportsmanship from their players -- help shape the moral, ethical, and spiritual character of children.

Communicate often with your child's coach to make sure he takes this responsibility seriously.

Improve Your English Speaking and English Pronunciation Skills
Improve Your English Speaking and English Pronunciation Skills The first rule of speaking English is to speak clearly, concisely and use simple vocabulary. KISS - keep it short and simple.

Remember you probably won't just speak to native speakers. There are roughly 380 million native speakers, but as many as a billion people speak it as a second language. So it's a good idea to avoid idioms and slang (I always say learn it, but don't use it). It might sound clever to say "You're barking up the wrong tree," but if you misuse it or if the other person doesn't understand you, you'll only look silly when you try to explain what you meant to say, or what it actually means.

There's also a saying in English "Have you swallowed a dictionary?" It is applicable to anyone who uses long, complicated words when a shorter word will do. Short sentences are just as good (if not better) than long explanations. The value in what you have to say is what you say, not how clever you look or sound when you say it.

Choosing a College Major:

..How to Chart Your Ideal Path

The most important piece of advice in this article follows this sentence, so please make note of it and repeat it to yourself as often as you need as you read this article and make decisions regarding choosing a major in college. Are you ready for it? The advice: Don't panic.

I know it's easier said than done, but I can't tell you how many students I have advised since the time that I have been a professor that seem in a state of panic if they are uncertain of their major, let alone a career. Choosing a major, thinking about a career, getting an education -– these are the things college is all about. Yes, there are some students who arrive on campus and know exactly their major and career ambitions, but the majority of students do not, thus there is no need to rush into a decision about your major as soon as you step on campus.

And guess what? A majority of students in all colleges and universities change their major at least once in their college careers; and many change their major several times over the course of their college career.

This article is all about giving you some pointers and direction -- some steps for you to take -- in your journey toward discovering that ideal career path for you. But it is a journey, so make sure you spend some time thinking about it before making a decision. And don't be discouraged if you still don't have a major the first time you take this journey...your goal should be narrowing your focus from all possible majors to a few areas that you can then explore in greater depth. [Editor's Note: See also the What Can I Do With a Major In...? section of Quintessential Careers.]

Please also keep in mind that many schools have double majors, some triple majors, and most minors as well as majors. Way back when I was an undergraduate at Syracuse University, I was a dual major in marketing and magazine journalism. Today I am a college professor and Webmaster of a top career resources Website...which brings me to the last piece of general advice before you begin your journey: your major in college is important for your first job after graduation, but studies show that most people will change careers -- yes, careers -- about four or five times over the course of their lives -– and no major exists that can prepare you for that!

The first stop on your journey should be an examination or self-assessment of your interests. What types of things excite you? What types of jobs or careers appeal to you? If you are not sure, start the process at Quintessential Careers: Career Assessment. Also, many, if not all, college career centers have a variety of self-tests you can take to help you answer some of these questions.

The second stop on your journey is an examination of your abilities. What are your strengths? What are your weaknesses? What kind of skills do you have? You can begin this self-examination by looking at the courses you took in high school. What were your best subjects? Is there a pattern there? What kinds of extracurricular activities did you participate in while in high school? What kinds of things did you learn from part-time or summer jobs? While you can only do part of it now, you may want to skim through our article, Using a SWOT Analysis in Your Career Planning.

The third stop on your journey involves examining what you value in work. Examples of values include: helping society, working under pressure, group affiliation, stability, security, status, pacing, working alone or with groups, having a positive impact on others, and many others. Again, a visit to your college's career center should help. You can also check out our Workplace Values Assessment for Job-Seekers, which examines what you value in your job, your career, and your work.

The fourth stop on your journey is career exploration. The University of California at Berkeley offers Career Exploration Links – Occupations, which allows you to explore a general list of occupations or search for a specific occupation and provides links to resources that give you lots of information about the occupation(s) you choose. There are many schools that offer similar "what can I do with a major in…?" fact sheets or Websites, but one of my favorites is at Ashland University. You can also learn more about various occupations, including future trends, by searching the Bureau of Labor Statistics' Occupational Outlook Handbook. You can find all these resources -- and more -- at Quintessential Careers: Career Exploration Tools.

The fifth stop on your journey is the reality check. You need to honestly evaluate your options. Do you really value physicians and have an interest in being a doctor, but have little skills in science? Does your occupation require an advanced degree, but your future commitments preclude graduate study? Do you have a strong interest in the arts, but your family is convinced you will become a CPA like your father? There are often ways to get around some of the obstacles during the reality check, but it is still important to face these obstacles and be realistic about whether you can get around them.

The sixth and final stop on your journey is the task of narrowing your choices and focusing on choosing a major. Based on all your research and self-assessment of the first five stops on your journey, you should now have a better idea of the careers/majors you are not interested in pursuing as well as a handful of potential careers/majors that do interest you. What are the typical majors found at a comprehensive university? Visit Quintessential Careers: College Majors for a listing of the typical college majors.

Take advantage of:

Your college's course catalog -– you'll be amazed at the wealth of information you can find here…from required courses to specialized majors and tracks.
Your professors, including your academic adviser -– talk with your professors, whether you have taken a class with them or not…many of them have worked in the field in which they teach and all are experts about careers and career opportunities.
Your classmates, especially upperclassmen -– these are the folk who are deep into their major, perhaps already having had an internship or gone through job interviews...use them as a resource to gather more information.
Your college's alumni -– unless your college was just founded, your school probably has a deep and varied group of alums, many of whom like to talk with current students…so use them as a resource to gather more information about careers.
Your family and friends -– there's a wealth of information right at your fingertips. Next time you go home or call home, ask your family about majors and careers.
Your college's career center -– almost always under-appreciated, these folk have such a wealth of information at their fingertips that it is a shame more students don't take advantage of them…and not just in your senior year –- start visiting in your first year because most have resources for choosing a major and a career, as well as internship and job placement information. How To Have Pretty Eyes

to be born with the prefect set of eyes because no one is. The secret to making your eyes look pretty is to know what suits you and doing just that. A big part of making your eyes look pretty is choosing the right products to apply on them. For example, if you were out shopping for eyeliners to wear on a daily basis and picked up liquid eyeliner then you made a bad choice. The problem with liquid eyeliner is that it tends to get smudged and makes your eyes look untidy and unkempt, thereby defeating the purpose of the entire exercise of applying the eyeliner. It would also be prudent of you to make sure you test what you buy, not only for it quality but also to see it suits you.
How To Have Beautiful Eyes
If you wanted your eyes to look bigger, all you need to do is to stop applying eyeliner and use only mascara and eye shadows.

Whenever you are about to apply makeup on your eyes, it would be good if you washed your eyes prior to starting. This will make sure that all remnants of dirt, grime of the last layer of makeup on your eyes is removed completely.

If you have straight eyelashes, then it would look nice if you curled them. Don't bother curling if your eyelashes are already curled.

Using mascara on your eyelashes will also help make them look pretty. The best way to apply mascara is to start at the base of your eyelashes and then work your way out and up. Make sure you do this with an absolutely steady hand. It may take some practice, but you will get it right after a few applications.

Eye shadows can help a great deal when you are looking to draw attention to your eyes.

The thing to remember with an eye shadow is that you can use bright colors, but don't clash it with your skin tone. The best thing to do is to choose a subtle shade for daily wear. Make sure that when you apply your eye shadow, you start at the base of your eyelashes and work your way upwards in even coats. If you are not sure about the shades that will suit you, then you can ask your beautician or just experiment with what looks good on you.

An important thing to remember is that even if you take care of your eyes, they will not look as pretty as they could, if you have unkempt bushman eyebrows. Make sure to shape

your eyebrows before you go about doing up your eyes.

Weave Hairstyles

In one of the most famous poems of all times describing a woman's matchless beauty, Lord Byron rightly compares her hair to the raven's tress, a nameless grace which completes her. Be it Cleopatra, Marilyn Monroe or Princess Diana, since the dawn of every era hair has defined the persona of every woman. No wonder, it has become a vogue. A chic hairstyle is all that an urban lady needs to walk down the lane with poise and panache combined. In today's tech-savvy world, new upcoming hairstyles gain popularity way too soon than before. While celebrities are busy experimenting with trendy hairdos, the starry-eyed plebeians are not far behind. Hair weaves is one such style that is gaining extreme importance. A hair weave is basically a type of hair extension, which facilitates in extending the hair for any purpose. There are times when women with shrimp thin hair wish to have thicker locks or women with short-cropped hair wish to have a brown cascade-like look or say women who are tired of their straight paintbrush like hair want curls instead. Hair weaves is just the thing one needs at such occasions. Besides, hair weaves is a godsend for those who having met with an accident and need a natural look. Just like hair coloring, hair weaves can play a quick trick to change your look completely. There are several ways to add a weave to your hair and change your hairstyle. Look into the following lines and explore the popular weave hairstyles

Popular Weave Hairstyles

Human Hair Weave
It is basically taken from individuals who have sacrificed their tresses for some reason. This particular weave type could be expensive and time consuming for the natural look it emanates, since finding the right color and texture that matches your hair-type may be quite troublesome. A lot of care is required to keep the natural weave in form and shape and extend its durability.

Synthetic Braid Hair Weave
It is best suited for temporary attachments, since it does not give a natural feel to your entire look. The synthetic hair weave can be braided into small micro-braids, big or straight braids, or simply twist the braids to make patterns. Make sure that you neatly braid it, without making it too tight.

Cornrow Weaves

This particular hairstyle is done by picking up hair from a row to make the braid. If the length of your real hair is less than 5 cm, attach the extensions first and then begin braiding. It is one of its kind of hairstyles for the yuppies and the trendsetters!

Interlocking Weaves
Another popular form of hair weave is interlocking, which allows flexibility. Along with a full-head weave, there are cornrows at the bottom. So, you can either braid your hair in any pattern you want or simply leave them straight. You also have an option of braiding your hair half or full.

Curly Weaves
Tired of the bland and plain straight look? If yes, then it's time to go the bizarre way. Go to a professional hair stylist and let him/her sew them or bond them in a weave so you can have a stylish curly weaved hairstyle to boast of.

Instant or Quick Weaves
If you are already late for the evening get-together and visiting the salon is nowhere in the scene, do not panic. Here's a remedy for this as well. Use bonding glue to apply quick weaves. They are sure to look awe-strikingly pretty and would truly be a savior for you.

2009 Audi S4

new model at the 2008 Paris Auto Show - 2009 Audi S4. To be a part of Audi's midsize class, the new S4 will be equipped with a 3.0 liter V6 engine, with direct fuel injection and mechanical turbocharging. With this, the car will not only deliver a powerful 245 kW (333 hp), but also accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62.14 mph) in just 5.1 seconds. Based on the recently revamped A4 series, 2009 Audi S4 delivers 325 pound-feet of torque. If that wasn't enough, it also promises a mileage of 24.25 mpg.

With the new mileage, we can say that Audi has improved its fuel efficiency by almost 26 percent. The engine-driven belt of 2009 Audi S4 powers the mechanical charger, providing full thrust right from idling speed. The 3.0 TFSI delivers its maximum torque at 2,500 rpm and maintains this constantly until 4,850 rpm. As you move to the fourth gear, the car goes from 50 to 75 mph in just 4.4 sec. Customers will also be provided with an option of choosing between a regular six-speed manual gearbox and a seven-speed "S-Tronic" dual-clutch transmission.

Talking about the DSG, it can be operated in a manual mode, via paddles, as well as in an automated mode. The wide gear ratio spread of 8.0:1 will allow the seven-speed gearbox to take advantage of the increased power and torque of the 3.0 TFSI. The S-Tronic transmission will come equipped with Audi's Drive Select feature, using which the driver will be able to select between "comfort," "auto" and "dynamic" modes. These three modes affect shift speed, throttle response, and the speed-sensitive steering.

Apart from the three modes, "comfort," "auto" and "dynamic", there is a fourth mode as well, using which driver can program according to his or her own preferences. However, the latter will be available only if the car is equipped with the optional MMI operating system. 2009 Audi S4 will also have a new rear differential, which will be controlled by an array of sensors and a high-speed computer. Other features of the car include a sport new interior, xenon headlights, a more aggressive body kit, and 18-inch wheels. There will also be an option of going for Adaptive cruise control and Bang & Olufsen audio.

2009 BMW 7 Series

Come October, and BMW would unveil yet another magnificent car series in the Paris Auto Show 2008. The latest generation of BMW is the 7-series, a luxury sedan that would blend luxury, comfort and style. The 7-series generation has two models under its belt - 750i and 750Li. For US, both the models will have the same engine - BMW's 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8. The engine promises to deliver a horsepower of 400 and torque of 450 pound-feet. 2009 BMW 7-series will come with a wheelbase that would be 5.5 inches longer than its previous models.

The European models of the series would have variations in engine, with one of the models having a 3.0-liter twin turbo diesel engine, offering 242 hp and 399 lb-ft. The other model would have twin-turbo gasoline 3.0-liter inline-six, offering 323 hp and 332 lb-ft. The V8 engines would have the efficiency of a six-speed automatic transmission. 18-inch alloy wheels have been employed for the car in a 245/50R18 size, though there is an option for 19-inch wheels as well. 2009 BMW 7-series boasts of redefined fuel consumption, owing to the introduction of flap in the grille, which eliminates unneeded airflow and thus, helps in reducing drag. The body of the models also weighs almost 120 lbs less, when compared to the prior models, because of the increased use of aluminum.

Another feature that prevails in the BMW 7-series generation cars is the option of four-wheel steering. This would entitle the car's rear wheels to turn in the reverse direction, when compared to the front wheels, when the car is running at a speed less than 35 mph. The wheels would turn up to three degrees in the same direction when the car accelerates further. The control system of the car has various options to suit the mood of driving - comfort, normal, sport and sport plus. The setting would automatically change the shock settings, steering effort, gear change speed and smoothness of the car. This new active chassis management system has been named as 'IMS' by BMW.

The safety option of 2009 BMW 7-seriess model has been widely improved. A new night vision system has been uploaded in the car, which amplifies the safety for pedestrians. The new system would perceive human presence in front of the vehicle and then flash a warning symbol on the display. The European model would have an additional feature added to the car - reading of speed limit signs. The system would automatically warn the drivers when drive at a speed exceeding the limits. The system also has the capacity to detect unfavorable speed driving conditions i.e. during fog and rain. It is so built that it would only be able to detect problems, but not adjust the speed of the car.

How To Buy A Car

Buying a shiny, sleek car is a dream for most people not just, for its utility but for the statement one makes with it. So what should you look for when buying either a brand new car or a used car? There are many factors, which determine whether your investment will become an asset or a liability for you. As the monetary value of a vehicle generally depreciates over a period of time, it only becomes an asset if it is as reliable as our politicians are not and if it is relatively maintenance-free. Moreover, your car can be as fanciful as your budget allows but if it fails to fulfill your utility demands then it will definitely be unsatisfactory in the long run. With the huge choice available in the market today, and the alternate energy vehicles also vying for market share, making a decision becomes all the more difficult. However, keeping a few things in mind can definitely help you make a satisfied owner of a car. Here are a few tips and pointers, which can help you, pick the perfect car for you.

Buying A Car

Tips For Buying A Brand New Car

Budget And Finance

The first thing, which you must examine, is your budget. Once you have put a cap on the amount you are willing to spend, you must figure out your payment options. There are only a few people who can pay outright for a car. Majority of the people must see what payment plan would be convenient for them. Getting a car loan is easy these days and you can go in for a deal, which is best suited to you.
It is best to avoid finance through the car dealerships as they charge higher interest. Banks and independent car finance companies offer the cheapest interest rates.

Take time to evaluate your needs and go for a car, which fulfills all your demands. Important things that you must take into account are:

Space requirements for people and luggage. A small car is convenient in parking but if you have to accommodate more than 5 people or a lot of luggage then it doesn't serve your purpose.

Whether you intend to use it within city limits or cover long distance journeys in it.
The features which matter to you, like the air-conditioning, safety, power, mileage, automatic/manual transmission, design features etc.

The fuel, which the vehicle uses. These days you can choose from various options like petrol, diesel, natural gas, bio-fuel, hybrid (using electricity and petrol) and electric vehicles. Every technology has its pros and cons so your choice must depend on expert advice.
Choosing A Brand

After the segment and kind of the car you prefer has been decided upon depending upon your requirements, browse through the models of various companies. Even if you favor a particular brand, look at the alternatives; you might find a better deal.
Choosing A Dealer

Get well informed about the market prices of the car you want before finding a dealer. This way you will know which dealer is trying to dupe you.

Visit many dealers and find out about their services, past service records, any discounts, promotional offers, freebies etc, they have on offer.

Negotiate with a dealer well stocked with the car as he will be more willing to give discounts

Plan your finance in advance but negotiate with the dealer without telling him about it. Dealers offer lower prices thinking they will make profit by providing the finance themselves.
Test Drive
Make sure that you test drive the car you want and check all its features. The handling, braking, speed etc, must be tested.

Tips For Buying A Used Car

Buying used cars has its pros and cons. The prices are definitely cheaper than a new car and sometimes a car, which has put on a few thousand kilometers, runs better. However, the downside is that you might end up with a car, which has been handled poorly and become a maintenance problem.

Need, budget, and financing are always a priority when buying a used car. So figure that out first.

Check the internet for used car portals as they find out the availability of the car of your choice at a place near you. Classifieds and used car dealers are other options to look for a car. A dealership is preferred as they provide some warranty and services.

Always research about the advantages and disadvantages of the car of your choice as a used car.

Check the details of the history of the car like age, distance travelled, the original papers of the car and number of ownerships.
Check the exterior and interior conditions of the car and also the engine.

Test-drive the car till you are happy with its performance.

Since it is a used car, find out its market price and depreciation in market value. You can then negotiate heavily till you are satisfied.

Pizza topping tips

Pizza Topping Tips
To sauce or not to sauce is up to you. White pizza uses no sauce. Simply drizzle a bit of olive oil over the top and add your favorite veggies, meats or cheese. As for sauce, use your favorite spaghetti sauce or experiment with Alfredo white sauce.

The rest is only limited by your own imagination. Meats such as Italian sausage should be pre-cooked, drained and cooled before adding. Preserved sausages and meats such as pepperoni and ham need no pre-cooking. Sun-dried tomatoes add wonderful flavor and a gourmet touch.

Mozzarella is the standard cheese used for pizzas. Shredded mozzarella is handy and helps control portions, but used sliced if you wish. Feel free to experiment with other hard cheeses as toppers.

If you do not care for crunchy vegetables, you may wish to par-boil them or zap them for a few minutes in the microwave to reduce the crunch before adding as a topping to your pizza. Standard baking time for pizza is usually only about 15 minutes, which will not be long enough to thoroughly cook vegetables such as carrots, zucchini, and broccoli.

Some veggies, such as onions, mushrooms, spinach, and bell peppers, have high water content which can add to sogginess if not precooked and drained. Be sure all cooked and canned vegetables and fruits have been well-drained and patted dry before using as a topping.

If you still have problems with a soggy crust, try sprinkling the dough with a thin layer of cheese before adding the sauce and toppings, and then more cheese on top if desired. The cheese between the dough and the sauce helps insulate the crust from moisture. You can also try pre-baking the crust for about 8 minutes, cooling, and then load it up.

Many folks like eating cold leftover pizza, but I like mine warmed up. Reheat pizza by placing on a rack over a baking sheet in a preheated 400-degree F. oven for about 5 minutes. You can also warm it in a hot skillet on top of the stove. A toaster oven also works well for reheating single servings. Try to avoid using the microwave to reheat pizza. You will end up with a soggy, chewy mess.

Pizza Recipes
Take-out and frozen pizza are acceptable quickie dinners when you are up against the clock, but why relegate pizza as a desperation meal? Making your own at home is really not that difficult or time-consuming. With a bit of careful planning of toppings, you also have a balanced meal all in one simple package. Luckily, most kids adore pizza, so you can enlist your children in the process.

Susie likes plain cheese, Tommy likes sausage, Dad likes pepperoni, and Mom likes veggies? No problem! Let everyone choose their toppings for a giant pizza. No more arguing over what kind to order, not to mention the added costs charged by most outlets for mixing toppings. Remember, do not limit your concept of pizza to basic crust with tomato sauce, cheese, and toppings. Branch out to flavored crusts, white sauce, and even dessert pizzas. Within the pizza recipes, you will find basic doughs, sauces, and gourmet to dessert pizzas. Mangia!

Pizza Cooking Equipment
To avoid a soggy crust, most pizza afficionados recommend a pizza stone, and I wholeheartedly agree. The stone absorbs moisture from the dough and provides a uniformly heated surface which results in a crispier crust. The stone should be preheated for an hour before placing the pizza in for baking. Note: Do not use oil on a pizza stone as it can ignite at high temperatures. Follow manufacturer's instructions for proper cleaning.

If you do not want to use a stone, consider a pizza screen. The screen is simply a round framed screen that permits air to circulate under the crust to give it a nicely-baked bottom. If you prefer a deep-dish pizza, you may wish to invest in a deep-dish pan. If you use a standard pizza pan, do not use a shiny one. A dark, seasoned surface produces a superior crust.

When using a stone, a pizza peel (a large, flat wooden paddle) makes handling the pizza a snap. A large pizza wheel cutter will help you cut your pizza, but if you have none and/or your pizza is a bit too soggy to effectively use a wheel, use kitchen scissors. The true pizza gourmand has a home pizza oven.

How Do Choose the Right Career

Choosing a career is an involved process that is based on a number of things, including your interests, skills, work-related values, and personality. You might want to meet with a career development professional, i.e. career counselor or career development facilitator. A career development professional will use various tools to help you evaluate your interests, personality, skills, and values. This is called a self assessment. He or she will then show you how all these things, combined, play a role in choosing a career.

If finances are an issue, don't let that keep you from getting the help you need. Check with your public library since some offer career planning help. Also check with local colleges and universities. Most have career development offices which may offer services to members of the community. Programs that train career counselors often have students work with members of the community in order to gain experience. There are self assessment tools you can use for free online.

What you should end up with is a list of suitable careers based on your self assessment. Obviously you can't do everything on your list, nor will you want to. Here's where you need to do some research. You should begin to gather information about these careers which will include a job description, outlook for the field (will you be able to find a job), and required training and education. When you have narrowed down your choices to just a few, then you should investigate even further, perhaps conducting some informational interviews with those working in the field. You can now make an educated decision about what career to pursue.

Getting Your Child Ready for Work

We all want our children to be successful in life. We hope to one day see them in satisfying careers with the promise of growth. The thought of seeing our children in dead-end jobs saddens us. We wonder, though, if there's anything we can do to help ensure that they are successful.

In 1990, then Secretary of Labor Lynn Martin, wondered the same thing and formed the Secretary's Commission on Achieving Necessary Skills (SCANS). Martin asked the Commission, comprised of representatives from schools, government, unions, and corporate America, to examine the demands of the workplace and to determine whether American youth are capable of meeting those demands. After a year of talking to employers, supervisors, workers, and union officials, the Commission identified a set of competencies and foundation skills, known as SCANS skills, that everyone entering the workforce must have.

SCANS Skills.
Following are the eight areas the Commission identified as being essential for both students who are going directly to work after high school and those who are going on to college. SCANS skills are made up of five competencies and three foundation skills. Competencies and foundation skills are intertwined -- They are used together and should be learned together.

The Five Competencies

Resources

allocates time
allocates money
allocates material and facility resources
allocates human resources

Interpersonal

participates as a member of a team
teaches others
serves clients/customers
exercises leadership
negotiates
works with cultural diversity

Information
acquires and evaluates information
organizes and maintains information
interprets and communicates information
uses computers to process information.

Systems

understands systems
monitors and corrects performance
improves and designs systems

Technology

selects technology
applies technology to task
maintains and troubleshoots technology

The Three Foundation Skills

Basic Skills:

reading
writing
mathematics (arithmetical computation and mathematical reasoning)
listening
speaking

Thinking Skills:

creative thinking
making decisions
solving problems
seeing things in the mind's eye
knowing how to learn
reasoning

individual responsibility
self-esteem
sociability
self-management
integrity

So now, instead of wondering whether your child will be successful, you can make sure she has the necessary skills. Make sure your child's school is incorporating SCANS skills into its curriculum. Then reinforce the SCANS skills at home.

How To Make A Cheque

How to Write a Check
Learn how to write checks and tips on reconciling your checkbook and maintaining personal finance in these…
Instructions:

Step
1
Start by writing in the date using any format, as long as it's legible. Use either the current date or a future date for a post-dated check.
Step
2
Write the name of the person or company receiving your check on the line that starts with "Pay to the Order of" or "Payable to."
Step
3
Write the numerical dollar amount of the check in the small space that starts with a dollar sign ($) so that it reads like this: $25.63.
Step
4
Write the same amount using words for whole dollar amounts, a fractional figure for amounts less than a dollar, and a straight line to fill up the remaining space on the line ending with the word "Dollars," like this: Twenty-five and 63/100 ------------- Dollars.
Step
5
Sign the signature line at the lower right.
Step
6
Note the check number, date, payee and amount on the check stub or in the check ledger at the front of your checkbook.
Step
7
Subtract the amount of the check so that you will know how much you have left in your account.

Warnings:

Keep up with the balance in your checking account, because banks will fine you for bounced checks if you don't have funds to cover all the checks you write. Post all deposits, record all checks and keep up with the addition and subtraction.

Checkbooks that automatically make carbon copies of checks may be a good idea if keeping records up-to-date isn't your strong suit.

Bounced check charges aren't necessarily written in stone. Call or visit your bank and shed a few tears. A soft-hearted clerk may remove the charges, especially if you haven't bounced many checks.

If you are paying someone with a post-dated check, let them know so they aren't surprised when their bank doesn't credit the check to their account immediately.

Completely destroy any voided checks or unused checks and deposit slips so that no one can copy the MICRE code, the funny-looking computer numbers at the bottom of checks, for the purpose of counterfeiting.

How To Draw a Sketch

Did you ever have this: in my head flashed colorful images, begging on the canvas, and materialize them does not work? If you blame for this its inability to draw? In vain! There's nothing complicated, just need to develop skills and encourage all their undertakings. Painting, still life, landscapes, portraiture - it's all very complicated and sometimes it is necessary to study any one year, because in art the figure there are some nuances, as in any other case.

In terms of technology, one of the most challenging areas - is a portrait and image of a man in a static or action. Draw a person - is not easy. Drawing people - one of the most difficult moments in the training pattern. Any design must begin with the concept and think through the outline. A sketch is better to do with a pencil slates medium hard, very important that the slate was acutely sharpened, it is necessary for the thin almost invisible line. A very important point in creating an outline - do not wash failed line up until you get the result you want.

In drawing rights is very important to keep the proportions, this does not necessarily memorize the anatomy, the main thing to remember basic human muscles and tendons.

Everyone knows that a man's height is 8 of his goals, should adhere to these proportions, unless of course you do not seek to draw in a genre of anime or manga - fashionable lately direction. This style is used to create Japanese animated cartoons. Drawn in the style of different people with long legs, big wide open eyes, small nose, and almost complete absence of the nose.

If you have already thought about the approximate position and shape of the person you want to draw, remember the early grades. We all remember how we were taught to draw people, this is the correct method for beginners. Should draw vertical lines that partition into sections (head, neck, thorax, the transition from the chest to the legs (waist if you want to portray a woman), my legs just are divided into areas - hips, knees, calves, feet) are not forget the hands:). After applying all the marks on paper and erase extra lines, the skeleton can supply the "meat":). After that, everything depends on your desire, whether the object dressed, or can you leave him naked, depends on you.

But to achieve the necessary skill in drawing people, it is important to take some drawing lessons from a professional artist. You will be taught not only how to draw people, you will be able to understand all the nuances of building shapes and proportions, but it is important to transmit emotions and finer nuances of the human facial expressions.

Remember, if something gives you pleasure - Make it!
